Penang
Hill also known as the Malay name Bukit Bendera ,is located withen the suburb of
west center of George Town.It is a resort comprising a group of peaks on Penang
Island.
Penang Hill comprises number of hills and is prominent from the lowlands as a hilly and forested area. Penang
Hill has been popular holiday retreat because of its cool and unpolluted air, and it is the highest point at Western Hill which is 833
meters above sea level.
There
are over 100 species of birdlife,ranging from ordinary garden species to
exotic deep forest inhabitants.
At
the apex of the hill,the visitors experience stunning views of landscape and
forest.The holding area provides share and shelter while large view decks and
pathways with beautiful planting holds to create a journey of discovery.
To reach the top of the hill ,Penang Hill Railway is used from the base station at Hill Railway Station Road. It takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach to the top.
With
the journey through train,luxuriant greenery, with the occasional macaque and the
houses built for British officials and other wealthy citizens can be seen.
From
to the top of Penang Hill,mountains of Langkawi and north Kedah can be viewed.
